Weight Loss Sunglasses

Weight loss sunglasses!

These Japanese-made weight loss sunglasses is said to help tame your appetite and weight!

So how does it work? As you can see from the picture above, the sunglasses are tinted blue, thus making everything you see blue, including your food! And as research has shown that blue is the least appetising colour of the rainbow, it will make you’re food look dull and boring so that you are less inclined to eat it. Plus, these glasses look pretty stylish too.

For about 1,890 Japanese Yen (around 20 USD), you can test out these glasses for yourself at Yumetai.

Just be careful, I’m not sure about you guys, but if I start seeing everything tinted in blue I’ll probably suffer from some sort of depression pretty soon…

Kitty Death Camp in China

Cats :(

China isn’t the most animal-friendly nation. In fact, I’m advising all pets in China to get out, now! Just last year, China received alot of criticism for killing stray dogs throughout the country. Now they’re sending cats to death camps in Beijing in preparations for the Olympics. What next?

The Chinese government are doing this as they’re convince of the urban health risks which these animals hold. Well, with a cat population of 500,000 in Beijing, their government might just have a reason.

But is there no alternatives? Vaccinations to stop disease from spreading or transporting these cats to other parts of China are some suggestions. Heck, they could even have a cat adoption scheme for overseas animal lovers! Must there make these cats pay the ultimate price? I’m sure most tourist visiting Beijing for the Olympics would prefer to see cats strolling around then to see none and know that they’re in death camps…

Japan’s Laughometer machine

Laughometer machine!

It’s time to turn that frown upside down!

Have you ever wondered how your laughter would rate if you could rate it? Over at Kansai University in Japan have developed a machine that can measure the quantity and distinguish between fake and real laughter.

This amusing machine works by using a series of electrode sensors that monitor the bioelectricity generated through flexing muscles when you chuckle at - taking 3,000 measurement a second! The data collected will then by analysed to give a number that shows the quantity of your smile.

What’s even more funny is that the research team at Kansai University called the unit of measurement for the quantity of laughter as “aH”. Although, I would have prefered to call it “Ha”, but hey, i didn’t make the machine…

The machine will be used for research on the physiological effects of laughter on the immune system. The researchers are also working towards a portable version of the laughometer machine for health and entertainment use.

I would give Totoro’s laugh a 100 out of 100 score!

Samurai dog

Samurai dog armour!

We all know of Ein, the data dog from the Bebop crew or Kiba’s comrade and best friend, Akamaru, but have you heard of a samurai with a dog as a sidekick?

A high-ranking samurai in the mid to late Edo period (18th-19th Century) had a one of a kind four legged companion! Proof of this is shown through the world’s only authentic armour of a wooden helmet and coat of black-lacquered scale mail that is fitted for a dog. However, it’s suggested that the dog has never worn the armour into battle and more likely have worned it for parades.

Historians believe that the armour belonged to a samurai named named Hata Roku Ryouzae-mon Tokiyoshi who had a dog called Inu-jishi (meaning Dog Lion).

The samurai dog armour is now located in a UK museum. Gives a whole new meaning to man’s best friend indeed!

Japan To Throw Boomerang In Space

Astronaut Takao Doi!

The excitement never seem to end for the Japanese Space Programme. This time Astronaut Takao Doi, 53, will be attempting to throw a Boomerang inside the International Space Station, while his main purpose of the trip up into space in March is to lead the construction of a Japanese scientific testing room.

Astronaut Takao Doi will be throwing his Boomerang in space to see if it will return to him under a zero-gravity environment. My assumptions is (and I’m willing to hear your opinions) that the Boomerang will still fly back to its throwing spot as long as there’s air in its surrounding for it to propel through.

The idea of throwing a Boomerang in space came to Mr Doi when he received a request from Yasuhiro Togai, a world boomerang champion from the western Japanese metropolis of Osaka. Of course, with the request came training on throwing a Boomerang from the world champion too!

“Mr Doi said he will personally carry a paper boomerang for the upcoming mission and we presume he will try it when he has spare time,” said an official of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. - ABC News

But, I’m sure many will still find the Japanese origami plane from space more spectacular!
