Japan Joins Red Alert 3

Red Alert 3!

The empire of the rising sun is joining the ever so popular RTS, Red Alert 3 in their next instalment. Not surprising, the Japanese gets some badass gear, like mechas and macross-like transforming planes.

I’m not sure why Red Alert 3 decided to add these new kickass features in the game, possibly they realise there is a huge untapped Otaku market or maybe the guys behind Red Alert at EA are just closet otakus to begin with? One thing is for sure though - Mecha-lovers and Otakus alike will be enjoying this new release!

Here’s the E3 Trailer:

You can visit Red Alert 3’s site here for more information.

To be honest, I grew out of Red Alert after the 1st instalment (started playing C&C Generals), but with these new features, I’m sure I willl be getting my hands on one very soon.

Nintendo Wii Remote To Control Military Robots

Packbots!

It seems the Wii remote is not just for playing video games anymore as iRobot (robot building company) is using it to control their military robots called Packbots!

That doesn’t mean the Wii remote still can’t be used for fun and games! Take a read at what these Packbots can do!

These Packbots disposes of bombs, sniffs out explosives and checks for landmines for US soldiers. It is 70 centimetres long, and moves on wheels or tracks. Some even have machine guns attached, although these are yet to be used in battle. - New Scientist

Of course the mere thought of using the Wii remote to control these military robots can sound like a joke. However, soldiers have found that using joypads to control the packbots requires too much concentration and leads to them missing some key information sent to their monitors by the robots. This is where the Wii remote comes in. After testing out the Wii remote to control the robots, many have found it to be easier and have a more ‘instinctive’ feel when controlling.

I guess Nintendo done themselves proud by building a very user friendly remote.

Here’s a two part video showing off the Packbot in a test run and then a CNN report on the Packbot in military action!

Who said using the Wii remote isn’t serious business?

Speed Racer the Video Game!

Making ‘Stunt-racing’ look badass is the Speed Racer video game that will be complementing the release of the Live-action movie in March this year.

Yahoo has described it as ‘colorful, eye-popping racing adventure that puts players in the driver’s seat of the infamous Mach 6‘. The game will be released on March 6 for the Nintendo Wii and DS with rumours saying that it may utilise a Wii Wheel which will just make the experience feel more realistic!

Toxicshock gave some insight on the game’s features:

The game is designed as a game that players can build their own racing track, and it also has a “choose-your-own-adventure” aspect that presents the experience as a series of choices that the player must make in gameplay.

It is also known that players can choose between varies characters from the movie; each with their own strengths and weaknesses on the racecourse.

Let this trailer take you on a ride - speed racer style:

No doubt the game will be action-packed, adrenaline full and exposing drivers to a new type of combative racing experience!

Ninja Reflex

Ninja Reflex!

Remember how when we were kids, how we play, pretend and wish that we were ninjas, samurais or whatnot. For those that dreamt of being ninjas, your wish just might be granted, providing that you listen to your Sensei from Ninja Reflex.

Ninja Reflex is a collection of entertaining and tiring mini/party games for the Nintendo Wii and DS. The game is brought to you by Sanzaru Games Inc and EA. The game is so competitive that the margin between losing and winning is seperated by milliseconds only.

There are 6 mini-games altogether with varying difficultly which you can play in multiplayer or singleplayer mode. These mini-games include:

1. Throwing shurikens at targets

2. Testing your reflexes against fireflies

3. Catching flies with chopsticks

4. Catching koi fish with bare hands

5. Breaking items with your nunchucks

6. Fighting demons with your katana

Timing and reflex is the name of the game. As you train more you will move up eleven belt ranks to receive your 3rd Degree Black Belt. Do you have the speed of a ninja?

Here’s a trailer for your viewing pleasure, I thought the other trailer was lame, but you can still view it here.

It has gone away as I’m thrown into a world full of dreams,

Spirit and the Wind・・・

Enoshima Island!

Sounds like something out of One Piece right? The official site where you can make reservation for the treasure hunt and to learn more about the adventure is here. The game itself is made to help boost tourism and the treasure hunt is held from 10 AM to 4 PM every day until February 19, so you better hurry if you want to get your hand on your loot!

I’m unsure of what adventures you may have on the island, but I know you won’t bump into any 5 headed dragons. However, here are some of the monsters you should expect to come across:
