One Piece, Chapter 570: Bridge of Life

Do I see twins? Reminds me of the Dai-Gurren Lagann Brigade!
That’s what I call backup!

You can download chapter 570 here, or read online here.

Summary:
Cover page – Cowboy Sanji is losing to some cowboy fishes at marksmanship.

Both marines and pirates are surprised by Luffy bearing the ‘King’s Haki’ as the aftershock of Luffy releasing it takes effect on both allies and enemies.

As the marines decide to focus their attack on Whitebeard who then orders his men to support Luffy as he believes the age after will be shaped by him.

Luffy’s advancement was made easy with the support of Whitebeard’s men and with the unexpected help of Das Bones and Crocodile to fend of Hawkeye, along with assistance from Inazuma on creating a bridge to the execution platform.

However, Luffy’s ascent of the bridge, even though supported by prominent pirates and Whitebeard himself, was interrupted dramatically by none other than Vice admiral Garp, his own grandfather!

Will this lead to an inevitable clash between family!?…

Thoughts:
Sukai:
The first chapter of One Piece for 2010 surely sets grand expectations for what is to follow for the rest of the arc and year. Oda has delivered a marvellous chapter to satisfy that intense cliff-hanger he left us with last year.

Ace’s remark of “You too” may suggest he also bears the King’s disposition Haki which is very likely as his Father was the pirate king after all!

This chapter is also very significant for the fact that it shows how Whitebeard and the marines have truly recognised Luffy as a great threat. Meaning in the long run, he’ll most likely face more marine interference in his future adventures.

The motive behind Crocodile’s assistance is still unclear. This may lead into a twist in the following chapters. Or he might just want to get back at the marines for taking away his opportunity to slay the world’s strongest man.

As for Hancock, her shichibukai status looks more and more likely to be revoked after this war. Ah~ Love, tis a hurricane indeed~

As for Garp fighting Luffy, I don’t think it’ll happen. Someone will step into the fight. Or else Luffy will be pummelled (again)!

Soulboy:
Guess Doflamingo had just been dumped by Crocodile yet again.

Inazuma being inside Iva’s hair all this while is just ingenious.

Almost all of the New World pirates have appeared, clearing paths for Iva and Luffy to proceed. Those that are still nowhere to be seen might come in handy next chapter to aid Luffy.

I doubt Luffy will and can do anything to make Garp move so my guess is that Buggy will make his name known by taking on Garp, Muggy ball perhaps?

Giving Luffy the chance to slip through Garp and reach the platform where Sengoku awaits. Then Squad will finally appear to stop Sengoku from preventing Luffy from rescuing Ace.

Will Sentoumaru, who has the tightest defense, be able to resist Hancock’s charm?

I wouldn’t want to fight that grandpa!
When did Garp get so buff!?
