One Piece, Chapter 568: Have It Your Own Damned Vay

Summary:
Cover page – A lion camouflaged among sunflowers eluding a frustrated Zoro.
The pirates continue their fight towards Ace as Garp enters the battle. Whitebeard and Akainu persist in their own feud. Marineford falls deeper into chaos.
The pandemonium proves too much for Ace emotionally as he recalls a flash back about his father, Gol D. Roger and himself questioning his own existence.
His blood brother, Luffy, on the other hand, is demanding Iva-chan to give him another dose of his/her vigour hormones. Despite Iva’s reluctance, he complies with Luffy’s plea in the end.
Akainu taking advantage of old age finally catching up to Whitebeard, delivers a magma fist to his chest. Both Marco and Jozu also receives a heavy blow from Kizaru and Aokiji respectively as they get distracted by this latest event.
Luffy, invigorated by the injection, gives out a beastly roar!…

This week’s chapter is an example of why One Piece has been on top for the past decade. Even amidst the shounen action in this arc, Oda is able to pull out such an emotional and deep chapter.
Sure, a few chapters back we had an emotional chapter about Whitebeard, but that was an badass/epic kind of sentiment. I especially liked Garp’s response to Ace’s question about whether he should have been born – “That kind of thing, you only find out by living.”
Very philosophical.
As for Luffy, he’s still the same with his “knowing no limit” attitude. But I didn’t expect him to get back in the fight, or at least not so soon.
The unfrozen Buggy will certainly be broadcasting more propaganda of himself and along with it, showing the marines’ defeat. We’ll most definitely see the fallout from Whitebeard getting hit next chapter, I doubt he’s dead yet.
Soulboy:
What a disappointing sight for the Whitebeard pirates. Looking all bad-ass at one moment and before you know it they got their ass whooped at the next.
Whitebeard was like ‘As I said try and protect it!!’ and then ‘UNGHH’ blood everywhere.
Then Jose was like ‘Pops, let me handle this!!’ and got his left arm frozen the next moment.
And what the hell is Marco thinking? You are in a war for god sake, at least transform into your immortal phoenix, before worrying about others.
Let’s just hope ice can’t do anything to diamond, Marco can regenerate with his fire later on, and Whitebeard… I would love to see Akainu’s magma fist having the effect of closing Whitebeard’s chest wound.
That would bring the three of them back to their feet and hopefully bring down some Admirals.
Lastly, I would like to see how Luffy is going to save Ace with his haki and everything.
Isn’t that sad.
