One Piece, Chapter 561: Luffy Vs Mihawk

Summary:
Cover page – Luffy aids a hungry monkey. No more Zoro and Perona?


Mihawk overwhelms Luffy with his power, but it also appears that Luffy is able to foresee attacks now, the result of his awakening ‘Haki’?


An attack by Mihawk that is barely dodged by Luffy then slices the ice berg.


Negotiation over forming an alliance breaks down between Crocodile and Doflamingo as Crocodile attacks his would-be nakama.


Meanwhile, Luffy uses Buggy as a ‘substitute in the clash against Mihawk, but it seems Buggy’s presence in the fight was only temporary as he is soon replaced by ‘Floral Blade Vista’.


Mihawk then contemplates Luffy’s natural ability to turn all around him into his nakamas.


However, the Marines are ready for Ace’s execution and are about to cut off the media feed to the rest of the world as reinforcement arrives.


Appearing on the shores, an army of Pacifista appears! The tide of this war has been turned!?…

Sukai:
Despite the title of this week’s chapter, it was more of a chase than a fight between Luffy and Mihawk. But this was expected, as we’ve already mentioned last week, it just wouldn’t seem appropriate for Luffy to battle Zoro’s target.


I’m unsure about the premise of the power of Haki, but I think Luffy being able to foresee his arms getting cut off by Mihawk had something to do with his awakening Haki. Then again, he might have finally grown a brain! Hard to tell.


The panel with Mihawk slicing the ice berg in the background was spectacular. I wonder how Zoro will outdo that.


Expected Buggy to put out more of a fight against Mihawk, but I guess it’s about time for the other division commanders to make an appearance. Though, I highly doubt Vista will last long.


The surprise of the chapter being the army of Pacifistas wasn’t too surprising, since we sort of predicted them to appear. But the most important part now is how the pirates will fight this war now? They are clearly overpowered now.


Soulboy:
I have a feeling that Sengoku is going to use some underhanded move to win this war, perhaps even to the extent of losing most of the Marine soldiers.


It’ll definitely be a good way to introduce the rest of the division commanders’ abilities as they face off against the army of Pacifistas and Sentoumaru, with a little help of Whitebeard of course.


Kizaru is shown fighting some pirates with a huge clay-like monster, so that would leave either Aokiiji or Akainu to get in Luffy’s way and Marco will probably finally step in for Luffy.


Maybe Jose will be sent flying towards the Pacifista and Doflamingo to face another New World captain by Crocodile’s attack.


Buggy’s expression in this chapter is just priceless.



All the pirates’ life flashed before their eyes.
