Full Metal Alchemist: Chapter 100, The Gate Is Opened

Congrats on 100 Chapters!


Summary:
The battle between Wrath and Greed comes to a temporary close as Wrath falls into the headquarters’ moat. It doesn’t look like Wrath has given up yet.


Greed, on the other hand, is trying to find a doctor for Fuu. As for captain buccaneer, he is already heading to a place higher than the peak of Briggs after Greed accepts his dying wish to hold the front gate that he was ordered to do.


Lin keeps his word and does a fine job of it too, elsewhere, Hughes’ wife and daughter is staring into the sky, waiting to gaze at a solar eclipse.


Back at what looks like “father’s room”, all the intended sacrifices have been gathered. Before they are able to collect themselves, father appears in front of them with Hohenheim attached to him. Not a sight you want your children to see! It looks like they’re still missing one more ‘sacrifice’.


Speaking of which, Mustang and the others continues to fight a losing battle and they are eventually subdued by the ‘failed-King Bradleys’. The ‘man who created King Bradley’ then requested Mustang to perform a human transmutation and even went as far as provoking him to bring back Hughes.


Mustang firmly refuses and in result, it leads to Hawkeye receiving a fatal wound to the neck. What will Mustang do now?…

Congratulations to Arakawa for making it to 100 chapters with FMA!


With Wrath out of the picture for now, how he’ll rejoin the action will be very interesting. He’s probably going to have one of those unexpected-tide-changing entries to help out ‘Father’ later on.


It’s really hard to guess what Mustang will do next. His current choices are:


a) Perform the human transmutation to try and bring back someone so that Hawkeye will live and he ends up being a sacrifice, or
b) Don’t perform the human transmutation, Hawkeye dies, and stops the transmutation for the next philosopher’s stone.


In order to keep the story going, a), is the most likely scenario, after all we all know Mustang loves his lieutenant too damn much.


The comment made by man who created King Bradley, whose name we still don’t know, really made me think about what is his motivation for doing all this if eternal life is a tiny incentive compared to his. It’s hinting that there is more behind just creating another philosopher’s stone…


A question that’s being bothering me is whether the coming solar eclipse have anything to do with the main plot?

It sure is good to have one of the seven deadly sins to be on your side. The way that Izumi and Edward had the same reactions when they landed onto the floor just cracked me up!


Something seems to have happened to Al’s soul while they travelled through the gates, could it have possibly went back to his body?


Mustang can perform human transmutation on Riza to prevent her from dying at the price of one of his body parts or the bodies of the King Bradley candidates. The latter would seem more possible as Mustang is the 5th sacrifice.


The last page is wicked, it just make this 100th chapter even better!


The most popular explanation for a solar eclipse in ancient China was known as ‘The heavenly dog devours the sun’. The drawing on the mural from the ruined temple shows the lion that swallows the sun indicates the Philosopher’s Stone.


This might means that Philosopher’s Stone can only be made during a solar eclipse and that is also why the guy who created King Bradley states that there is no more time.

   I think Soulboy is on the money about the solar eclipse. At least one of us looked into it in detail haha.

   By the way, has anyone noticed the roll-over text for images yet?
