Japanese Toymaker Creates Dog Translator

Mankind may have moved closer towards understanding man’s best friend, the dog.


I’m sure many dog owners have one time or another wondered about the meaning behind his companion’s bow-wows. The Japanese toymaker, Takara Tomy themselves wondered about that too and came up with the ‘Bowlingual Voice’. The gadget analyses the acoustics of a dog’s bark and translates the findings into human words.


Being invented by a Toymaker, you would expect the device to be relatively basic, which it is. The device works by detecting six emotions which includes sadness, joy, frustration etc. It then plays a recorded list of spoken phrases such as “play with me”.


For the sake of all dogs in Japan, I sure hope the gadget actually translates the dog’s intentions correctly, wouldn’t want dogs to be taken out for a run every time they try to say they’re hungry. They’ll probably die of starvation and exhaustion!
