Blade of the Immortal Anime Incoming!
Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon Magazine has confirmed that Hiroaki Samura’s Blade of The Immortal manga will be made into a television anime!
Of course, for those that don’t know the story:
“Manji, a swordsman that has been cursed with immortality by a witch for all the bad deeds he has done. However he makes a deal with the witch that he will kill a thousand evil men in order to repent his sins and to regain his mortality. On his journey he meets Rin, a young girl seeking vengence for the death of her whole family. The story follows these two on their passage to attain some kind of peace.”
The manga (which is still going) is definitely a good read for those that like serious stories and samurai fights in feudal Japan and the same goes for the anime. The manga has a unique feel and is drawn beautifully which I hope is also adopted by the anime too.
The anime is planned to be aired this summer in Japan. Koichi Mashimo (Noir) from Bee Train will direct the anime with Yoshimitsu Yamashita (Samurai Champloo) designing the characters and Ko Otani (Mobile Suit Gundam Wing) composing the music.
It is definitely going to be a spectacle with such a solid team behind it. I have a really good feeling that this anime might be one of the best anime released this year. Trailers and preview will be posted as soon as I see them, so stay tune.
