Caning for good health

Wu Chengguang, a 72 year old Malaysian has set up a “caning therapy” service in Singapore. For S$20 (RM46), Mr. Wu will give you 11 strokes of his cane. You would think that no one would pay to get canned, but surprisingly Mr. Wu’s business has been great, with 50-70 customers a day - that’s around S$1,400 a day!
The secret behing his caning is that it will relieve aches and sore muscles, but who’s to say that the customers are there for just ‘therapy’? Mr. Wu even added that the black marks caused by the caning shows that the “poisonous energy” is being removed from the blood circulation system.
In an interview, Wu said that he learnt his “caning therapy” method from a lama in Xichang when he was 20 years old. In the 50 or so years since then, he has been practicing it continuously. Together with his wife, he set up two treatment centres (one in Southern Thailand, the other in Penang) to treat joints and muscles which were aching or sore.
He’s business has been going so well that he’s two singaporean friend’s has become his assistant! If you want to try out his therapy or just in it for the pain, you can visit Mr. Wu at Jurong West St 93 No. 987C.
