Dragonball’s movie lead confirmed

Live Action Dragonball!

If you thought Ando of Heroes going for the role of Yamcha in the Live Action Dragonball movie was big news, this is even bigger! The lead roles for 20th Century Fox’s Live Action Dragonball film has been decided. Yes, that means Goku and the other characters which we all have come to love!

James Wong (Final Destination, X-Files television series, The One) will be the director of the film with Stephen Chow (Kung Fu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer) as the producer. The role of Goku will be played by Justin Chatwin (War of the Worlds, The Invisible, Lost television series) and James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Spike, Smallville’s Braniac) will be taking the role of Piccolo! You will just have to stay tune for the other roles though.

Justin Chatwin as Goku!

Filming will begin this month with the movie planned to be released on August 15, 2008! That’s just a year away! The story will be based on the adult Goku defending Earth. From who? Piccolo it seems. Justin Chatwin is already training hard at the stunt performance company, 87Eleven (The Matrix, The Bourne Supremacy, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, 300)

I’m sure some Dragonball fans would be disappointed with the role of Goku not being played by an Asian. Piccolo is fine as long as he’s green and shoots his special beam cannon (Light of Death) in the movie. But I’m surprise Stephen Chow is producing the film, not acting in it. He’ll make an awesome Vegeta, but then again, I don’t think Vegeta will be making an appearance in this film which is a downer. On the contrary, who’s going to take the role of Krillin? Bald and strong, Vin Diesel possibly?…

Hope to see more Asian cast though!

I think it would be better if there is more good Asian Martial Arts Actors in the Movie………..OH and hope it don’t look too fake…..DragonBall is all about fighting Martial Arts……Make it seems real so we don’t have to waist our money to watch it….I seen alot of American Film makers make the trailer movie so good but went you watch the whole movie it aint shit…….Not offense to anyone but take GhostRider and X-Men for example……..
