Creepiest place in Asia

Looking to make this Halloween special? Well, why not visit Bhangarh a little town in the Rajasthan region north of Jaipur, India. It is ranked as the world’s number two creepiest place, and India’s most haunted place. Bhangarh, is arguably Asia’s creepiest location!

Bhangarh!

So how did Bhangarh, a surely harmless and abandoned town that’s swarmed by tourists in the day and residence to jumping monkeys earn its name as Asia’s creepiest place and also an entrance sign that says “STAYING HERE AFTER SUNSET IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED”?

The answer lies within its mysterious history and dark legends, well known throughout India. The town was built in the 1630s by Madho Singh of Amber. The first legend said that when Madho Singh built this town, he was warned by a ascetic named Baba Balanath, who meditated nearby: “Look my dear chap! The moment the shadows of your palaces touch me, you are undone. The city shall be no more!” Later on, one of Madho Singh’s descendent raised the palace which its shadow reached the forbidden place. What happened next? Well, i’ll leave that up to your imagination.

The second legend speaks of a battle fought between Ratnavali, the queen of Bhangarh and a wicked sorcerer Singha Sevra. Singha Sevra tried to trap the Ratnavali in his magical web many times, but failed every time as Ratnavali had experience in the art of dark magic. However, one day the queen lost her temper and threw a massaging oil that was transformed into a rock towards the sorcerer, but before Singha Sevra died he created a curse: “I die! But thou too, thou Ratnavali shall not live here anymore. Neither thou, nor thine kin, nor these walls of the city. None shall see the morning sun!” Afterwards, the whole town evacuated to Ajabgarh and no one lived there since.

Bhangarh!
